Time Spent on Copywriting and SEO: Between 2 Weeks and 2 Months

I’ve worked with the clients below for more than 1 month. The time spent on each project also varied depending on the clients’ ability to be at hand when I needed feedback and additional data.

When I rewrote the copy, the process went from analysing old website copy and nailing the coveted tone of voice to uploading the new copy. With the new copy came the end of our collaboration (no SEO optimisation was needed; hence, I didn't monitor changes in Google Search Console and GA4 after handing over the copy). Writing new copy involved researching the website copy that was on the web, getting to know the business branch and their customs, researching competitors, and gaining insight into the keywords they used as well as the quality of their copy.

Why does SEO Optimisation Take so much Time Compared to Writing Copy?

SEO projects do take time.

You can’t expect to get an optimised website under 2 weeks (if you want to SEO optimise more than 2 web pages)!

A website is more than just a homepage. And focusing on just the homepage wouldn’t be right.

A homepage alone very rarely surfaces in the search results if a business offers a multitude of services or products.

To optimise a website, one must look into the linking of the homepage and other web pages, study the text structure, the way content is presented to the reader. Find opportunities to gain backlinks that benefit the website and increase its authority.

To cut the long story short (because there really are a lot of parameters that one must look into to SEO optimise a website perfectly), here’s an on-page SEO checklist you can use to check how perfect your on-page SEO is.
