Copywriting Lessons: How to Write a Blog on a Particular Keyword

How to Write a Blog on a Keyword

Behind the Scenes of Writing a New Blog Article

In the YOUTUBE video above, I’m talking about the process of writing a new blog article for my website and ranking No.1 on Google with a new keyword.

But hold! This is not for a keyword that has a lot of competition!

In the video, I’m talking about:

  • what you got to do to before you sit down to write,

  • where to look for information

  • how to collect keywords for your next article

How to Rank High on Google With a New Keyword

Although this keyword (“effective hotel copywriting tips”), a long tail keyword, is not a keyword which is searched a lot, I chose to write about it, because I wanted to check how much I learned about SEO. And of course, rank high on search engines with the keyword.

So, creating a new keyword not many people look for, or even no one, and ranking No. 1 in the Google search results for that keyword.

With time, maybe more and more people will enter that keyword on Google (or Bing). You never know.

But you’ve got to track the changes in the positions in the Google search results and then adapt your article to retain top position.

So, to your right you can see the results on the Bing search results page a day or two after I published my blog article.

When I ranked No. 1 in the Google search results

At that time there was an entry by a prominent hotel copywriting website,

alongside a Linkedin article on “efficient hotel copywriting tips” (or “effective”).

And parallel to it, on Google, a situation I was hoping to find:

A portion of my article in the form of an answer to the question:

What is effective hotel copywriting?

was taken and put ahead of all the search results for the same keyword.

Not only that!

My blog article hit No. 1 on Google!

How to Preserve Top Position in the Google Search Results

As I said, this is not a keyword you will have difficulty ranking with because it’s new. Not searched yet.

The difficulty comes when there are many websites competing for the keyword you also want to take and write about.

Then you’ve got to invest a lot of time and effort to analyse the competition’s article and outcompete them with providing more value and insight (incorporate Google’s new requirement for articles: freshness, uniqueness, and usefulness + a personal take on the subject.
