Finding the English Copywriter You Really Need (Even in Croatia)


Simple question, but the search tires you out, doesn’t it?

To hire your English copywriter you must go over the entire directory of copywriters in Croatia before the definite selection.

You might even look up answers on Reddit to find your exact match for the copywriting project.

First, look at the following aspects:


  • Does the copywriter have a website (that tells you whether copywriters invest in their branding and copywriting business?

  • Does the copywriter write regularly to showcase his/her copywriting flair and style? Do they a blog on copywriting?

  • Is the copywriter a member in copywriters’ associations (I’m a member of Procopywriters.co.uk, as listed on my homepage)?


Maybe you as a searcher on Google won’t be looking for an English or Croatian copywriter like that.

You might simply enter “copywriter in Zagreb Croatia” or “ need an English copywriter in Zagreb” or “talented English wordsmith in Croatia” (if you’re situated in Croatia and want to reach the English-speaking audience).

That will solve your worries. You’ll get enough search results that will keep you company for hours.

You must simply choose one.

Simply??

The mere thought of it is terrifying.


What Can Help You Make a Good Choice When Hiring an English Copywriter


You will certainly need to check some boxes here if you want to find the adequate English copywriter you want to work with.

There are a few parameters, like


1. Is the English Copywriter in Croatia a Native English Speaker?


First of all, is the copywriter’s native language English?

You’ve got to check the toolbox the copywriter uses.

Do they have the necessary command of English language you require to get the job done?

Or are they just using that keyword to drive traffic to their website, and if they do get the job, they’ll then outsource it?

My case is that I’m not a native English copywriter, but I have an MA in English and German, and have spent less than 5 years in business.

You’ve got to make sure that the copywriter you hire is familiar with your industry.

Even if he/she is not, you must make certain that the copywriter will have enough time to get to know your industry.

Equip them with as much information as you can - share info about the production, the time it takes to produce products, the stages, give them a tour of your facility, etc.

All the above if the hired copywriter will be willing to do some research and immerse himself/herself in the industry you do business in.

Copywriters who have been producing content for your industry over many years won’t need that much input, but you, as the client, must always be forthcoming and ready to provide information whenever needed.


Only then will the website copy be precise and truthful if it’s the facts you’re sharing with potential clients, and you’re relying on credibility as one of the factors, that will make buying from you relevant.

3. Is the Copywriter Writing in a Style You Find Appealing?


Appeal is certainly a very important factor when hiring a great copywriter.


What do you consider appealing?

Attractive? Interesting?

Making the client want to get in contact with you, and then make the purchase?


Sometimes it’s not actually that what you think is appealing that’s going to make your business bloom.

You’re going to have to trust the copywriter because copywriters know what copy works and what will ultimately fail with the public.

They have tested the market. They have learned from mistakes with each fine-tuning and optimizing of their copy/content.


Testing is an inherent part of copywriting. Having two to three copy solutions at hand and testing them out.

4. Does the English Copywriter Hold the Same Values as You?

Question No. 4 might not be that relevant, but still, you want to communicate and work with English copywriters in Croatia who share the same values as you do. It’s then that you can make yourself understood best.

It’s easy to agree, although agreeing in the course of copywriting is not a must.

There’ll be some differing viewpoints, and that’s fine.

As long as you provide the necessary input for the copywriter and the copywriter has the freedom to create to the best of his/her knowledge.

Everyone needs to believe in something and have some causes that one supports. Actively or by spreading the word about them.

It’s good to have a copywriter who’s socially aware.

 

There are surely some other questions you need to clear off the table, but this article mentions these 4 in particular as the most crucial for me if I were to hire an English copywriter for my business.


Of course, the price will have a say in this, too. That could be another question.

But as with most things in life, cheap doesn’t mean good.

It could even mean below average, if not very bad.
